How to Sow Turf Seed

  1. Prepare the soil — remove weeds, loosen to 100mm depth, and level the surface
  2. Apply a starter fertiliser to encourage root development
  3. Sow seed at the recommended rate (see individual product labels)
  4. Lightly rake seed into the top 5mm of soil
  5. Water gently twice daily until germination (7–21 days depending on variety and temperature)
  6. Reduce watering frequency once grass reaches 30mm height
